Plain English Summary

CiderStack is macOS virtualization software you can buy and own forever. Use it legally on your own Macs, don't share your license, and don't reverse-engineer it. We're here to help if something goes wrong.

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using CiderStack ("the Software"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you're using CiderStack on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

If you don't agree to these Terms, don't use CiderStack.

2. License Grant

What You Get

Subject to your payment and compliance with these Terms, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

What You Can't Do

3. Machine Activation

CiderStack uses machine-based activation. Each license can be activated on a limited number of machines. You can deactivate machines through your account portal to transfer activations to new hardware.

Apple's 2-VM Limit

Apple's Virtualization.framework only allows 2 macOS VMs to run simultaneously per Mac. This is an Apple restriction, not a CiderStack limitation. You can create unlimited VMs, but only run 2 at a time per machine.

4. Payments and Refunds

Pricing

CiderStack licenses are one-time purchases. Prices are displayed at checkout and may change, but changes won't affect existing licenses.

Refunds

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied with CiderStack, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. After 14 days, refunds are provided at our discretion.

Trials

Free trials provide full access to commercial features for 14 days. No payment information is required. One trial per person/organization.

5. Updates and Support

Updates

Your license includes all updates within your purchased major version (e.g., v1.0 through v1.99). Major version upgrades (e.g., v1.x to v2.x) may require a paid upgrade at a discounted rate.

6. Intellectual Property

CiderStack, including its code, documentation, graphics, and trademarks, is owned by CiderStack and protected by intellectual property laws. Your license grants you the right to use the software, not ownership of any intellectual property.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

CiderStack is provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We don't warrant that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements. You use CiderStack at your own risk.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CiderStack's liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license in the 12 months preceding the claim. We're not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

This limitation applies regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Termination

We may terminate your license if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using CiderStack and delete all copies. Termination doesn't entitle you to a refund (except within the 14-day refund window for non-breach reasons).

Sections regarding intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability survive termination.

10. Beta Software

Beta versions of CiderStack may be unstable and are provided for testing purposes. Beta software may contain bugs, cause data loss, or behave unexpectedly. Use beta software at your own risk and not in production environments.

11. Privacy

Your use of CiderStack is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your data.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We'll notify you of significant changes by email or through the software. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
